REMEMBER ME?

REMEMBER ME?

I met you five years ago

I needed you and there was something you needed me for

REMEMBER ME?

You came into my home with your people

And promised to improve the lives of my people

REMEMBER ME?

My family and I sat under that scotching sun, on broken down stools,

When you pledged to build roads, hospitals, houses, and schools,

REMEMBER ME?

I was a fool and you were somewhat wiser,

Clouding my judgement with your brown envelopes, sugar, mealie-meal, and fertiliser,

REMEMBER ME?

I am your woman, your child, your elder, and your youth

It is I who stood misinformed and manipulated in that voting booth

REMEMBER ME?

You once told me you’d help all those affected

How come you have never been here since you were elected?

REMEMBER ME?

Yes you do because again you need me

Only this time, I won’t let you DECEIVE ME!

I REMEMBER YOU!
